The Baby Quilt Brigade was formed in September, 2000, by a new mother and two grandmothers who thought every new baby should go home from the hospital with a new quilt. The Brigade is all volunteer and non-profit. All donations are tax deductible. The project has grown very quickly and is now supplying Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming, with baby quilts made from new materials. The first quilting bee, held October 21, 2000, produced 37 quilts from 17 volunteers. During 2001, approximately 485 quilts and blankets were distributed. Individuals, local businesses and suppliers have been generous with their help.
